When you take a photo on your iPhone or iPad, if you use Dual Lens and Original Photo, the image is saved as a HEIC file. HEIC stands for High Efficiency Image Container, and this format is a newer variant of the High Efficiency Image Format (HEIF), traditionally used by Apple mobile devices.
